Attention: The exam period for T/TR 9:30 class is still Thursday at 9:30; this is when your PSA is due. The exam period for the MWF 1:00 class is now on Friday at 1:00. Students (particularly in the 1:00 class) are encouraged to send me the PSA early so that it can be evaluated ahead of time. All research papers and exams will be handed out at the exam period unless arrangements are made to pick them up from me earlier.
The PSA is worth 75 Points; here is how the points will be allocated:
Length (5 minutes minimum): 10
Clarity of Issue: 10
Mention of/Allusion to the documentary film you studied: 10
Creativity (locations, costumes, props, story line): 20
Participation of Group Members (visibility on screen): 10
Research (statistics, definitions, hard information): 10
In Class Presentation: 5
In addition, students may incur a grade deduction if they did not contribute equally to the group effort.
Notice-- the point total for the PSA has been adjusted because we were 65 points over 1000. At 75 points, students still have a 40 point "cushion" built into the final grade total, which is more than fair.

Fall 2013 Presentation: You will make a PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT about your issue/film You will do this in collaboration with the other students in the class who are working on the same film topic as you are. Here are the details:
1. The film should educate the class about the issue you have researched.
2. The PSA should bring awareness to the film and explain its value in regards to understanding the issue.
3. The PSA should contain a creative spin: A skit or scenes, props, dialogue, varying locations, etc.
4. Each person should have a visible role on film.
5. There should be written information about your issue within the film-- research, statistics, etc. You can do this with editing software, or you can use poster boards. At least 3 should be present.
6. It should be viewed as a mixture between a public service announcement that brings attention to the issue and part a promo to get people to watch the film about your issue.
7. The video should have a run time of approximately 5 minutes.
8. You must present the video to the class. It must play. It should be either uploaded to YouTube or saved to a disc that will play in Windows Media Player... or both. I encourage you to have a back up plan-- have it saved in at least 2 different places.
9. The film should be CREATIVE but have a fairly serious tone since these are serious issues.
10. You should not read off of a page. Get to know your material, and when your group meets to film this, be ready. Do not wait until the last minute to do this project; editing is often the most time consuming part of a project like this. I know it is hard to juggle schedules for everyone to meet at one time, but this type of commitment and these types of assignments are part of college and should be expected/planned for. I highly suggest meeting during the Thanksgiving break to get started on the project.
This will be what is due for the final exam period. You have plenty of time to work on this and develop a creative idea... you must be in class, on time, with a playable PSA at the beginning of the exam period, or you will incur a grade deduction. I will grade quality (effort), creativity, and content. You must "present" your PSA to the class.
